I offer individual online counselling sessions for teenagers and adults.

Counselling provides a confidential and supportive space to talk openly about challenges, thoughts, and feelings. It can help people better understand themselves, develop coping strategies, work through difficult experiences, and make positive changes in their lives.

Counselling can be helpful for anyone, whether they are experiencing a specific difficulty or simply want support in understanding themselves and navigating life’s challenges. One of the most important aspects of counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and client - feeling safe, understood, respected, and comfortable is an essential part of the process.

For the moment, sessions are only available online (via Google Meet).

Low Mood

Everyone feels low or down from time to time. Feeling low is common after distressing events or major life changes, but sometimes periods of low mood happen for no obvious reason. You may feel tired, lacking confidence, frustrated, angry and worried. But a low mood will often pass after a couple of days or weeks.

If you're still feeling down or no longer get pleasure from things for most of each day and this lasts for several weeks, it may be time to talk about it.

Stress

At the most basic level, stress is our body’s response to pressures from a situation or life event. What contributes to stress can vary hugely from person to person and differs according to our social and economic circumstances, the environment we live in and our genetic makeup. Common triggers of stress include experiencing something new or unexpected, feeling that your sense of self is threatened, or feeling that you have little control over a situation.

If your stress starts to feel overwhelming and impacts the quality of your life, it may be time to talk about it.

Worry

Worry (or anxiety) is your body’s natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come. The first day of school, going to a job interview, or giving a speech may cause most people to feel fearful and nervous.

But if your feelings of worry are extreme, last for longer than six months, and are interfering with your life, it may be time to talk about it.

Cultural Adjustment

Cultural adjustment is the process of adapting to a new and unfamiliar environment so that you can live and work comfortably and effectively. Living in a new culture often requires learning new cultural norms, behaviours, and ways of communicating. This process can be challenging and, at times, uncomfortable, but it is a natural part of adapting to a new environment.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and unsure, it may be time to talk about it.
